Originally from Brazil, Jean Bertoldo moved to Australia to join the Children’s Cancer Institute in March 2022, where he was appointed Team Leader of the newly established Chemical Biology Target-Based Drug Design Group. In Germany, at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Halle-Wittenberg, he pioneered a new drug treatment for ovarian cancer using a covalent inhibitor of RNA-binding proteins. At the Children’s Cancer Institute, Dr. Bertoldo's team is dedicated to integrating chemistry with cancer biology to design new drugs for the treatment of childhood cancers, with a focus on neuroblastoma, medulloblastoma, and diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG).
