Jean Duquette is a Professor holding a cross-appointment in both the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University. He has an extensive educational background, obtaining a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Engineering in Materials Engineering from McMaster University, followed by a Master of Science in Renewable Energy from Zaragoza University in Spain, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Victoria. His research interests focus on energy modeling and simulation, particularly in low-energy building designs and sustainable energy systems. He is involved in the development of heat pump refrigeration cycles, solar thermal energy systems, and thermal energy storage solutions. Furthermore, he explores renewable energy integration for remote community systems and the technical, economic, and policy aspects of emerging energy systems. Currently, he leads graduate student opportunities, including a Ph.D. position starting in September 2024, aimed at designing solar-driven thermochemical energy storage systems for residential heating in Canada's remote northern communities.
