Biography

Jean Saulnier has an active career as a performer and educator. His ease, flexibility, and quality of listening make him a sought-after partner, evidenced by his numerous collaborations with top Canadian and international musicians. Jean has won many awards in national and international competitions, including the William Kapell, the Prix d’Europe, and the Leschetizky competition. He regularly performs in Canada, the United States, South America, and Europe, whether as a chamber musician, soloist, or with orchestra. He has recorded several major works of the chamber music repertoire with his long-time partners, cellist Yegor Dyachkov and clarinetist André Moisan, on labels such as Pelléas, ATMA, Analekta, and Doberman-Yppan. He also recorded a Chopin program on a Pleyel from 1848 that highlights originality and refinement. Jean has been a full professor at the Faculty of Music of the Université de Montréal for 25 years, and is regularly invited by various festivals such as Orford Musique, the Gijón International Piano Festival, and the Portopianofest.
