Dr. Jeanne Farnan

Biography

Jeanne M. Farnan, MD, is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and serves as the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education. She is responsible for the overall development, implementation, and ongoing renewal of the educational programs for medical students, alongside managing performance assessment and accreditation processes. As an experienced qualitative researcher in health professions education, Dr. Farnan's career has focused on examining critical issues such as patient safety and professionalism in medical training. Her contributions to the field include more than 100 publications and numerous invited speaking engagements. She holds a Master's degree in Health Professions Education, has been formally trained in adult learning theory, and is actively involved in designing and evaluating educational interventions within the curriculum. Practicing as an academic hospitalist, she works closely with Internal Medicine housestaff, sharing her insights on medical education and practice. Her research interests encompass medical education methodology, learner milestones, and the integration of health systems science into curricula.
