Biography

Jeannie Callum, MD, FRCPC, is a Professor at Queen’s University and a specialist in Transfusion Medicine. She leads the QUEST transfusion research program and has held significant positions at various institutions, including the University of Toronto and Sunnybrook Research Institute. Her research focuses on blood utilization, error tracking in transfusion medicine, and hemostasis in bleeding patients. Callum is a prominent author with over 150 peer-reviewed publications and has contributed extensively to issues pertaining to transfusion practices. She is actively involved in numerous clinical trials and has played a vital role in the development of the U.S. Biovigilance Network and Canadian Transfusion Error Surveillance System. Moreover, she has received multiple accolades for her teaching and leadership in hematology, underscoring her commitment to education in the field.
