Biography

Professor Neilson's research focuses on the causes and consequences of investor information acquisition, corporate disclosure, and financial reporting/regulation. His research is published in journals such as the Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting Economics, Management Science, and the Accounting Review. He teaches courses in Financial Statement Analysis and Valuation in the Master of Accounting program. In 2016, he received the Lester Shonto Award for Excellence in Accounting Education. Professor Neilson is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), with additional certifications as a Certified Management Accountant (CMA, inactive) and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA, inactive). Prior to entering academia, he worked in public accounting with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and in internal auditing and consulting.
