Biography

Jeehye Park is an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto and a Senior Scientist in the Genetics and Genome Biology Program at the Hospital for Sick Children. Her laboratory focuses on studying the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, using a multidisciplinary approach that integrates biochemistry and molecular cell biology with fly and mouse genetics. Her research aims to improve the understanding of these diseases to develop therapeutic strategies. Dr. Park received her PhD from the lab of Jongkyeong Chung at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, where she studied the molecular mechanisms of Parkinson's disease. She completed her postdoctoral training in the lab of Huda Zoghbi at Baylor College of Medicine, examining spinocerebellar ataxia type 1. Her research is crucial as neurodegenerative diseases are increasingly recognized as leading causes of disability and death worldwide, and advances in this field could lead to effective treatment strategies.
