Biography

Jeff Dukes is a Senior Staff Scientist in the Department of Global Ecology at the Carnegie Institution for Science, and a Professor by courtesy in the Departments of Biology and Earth System Science at Stanford University. His research examines how plant ecosystems respond to a changing environment, focusing on topics such as invasive species and climate change. His experimental work seeks to inform and improve climate models. Dr. Dukes received his Ph.D. from Stanford University and his bachelor's degree from Brown University in Biological Sciences. He has been elected as a Fellow and named a Public Engagement Fellow by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and is also a Fellow of the Ecological Society of America. Prior to joining Stanford and Carnegie, he was a professor at Purdue University, where he held the Belcher Chair in Environmental Sustainability at the College of Agriculture and directed the Purdue Climate Change Research Center.
