Dr. Jeff Gehlhausen

Biography

Jeff Gehlhausen, MD, PhD, is a dermatologist specializing in complex autoimmune skin conditions such as cutaneous lupus, dermatomyositis, and vasculitis. With a deep understanding of the immune system and the latest treatments, he is dedicated to helping patients manage challenging skin diseases that affect overall health. Dr. Gehlhausen earned his medical degree and PhD from Indiana University and completed an internship in internal medicine at Vanderbilt University, followed by a dermatology residency at Yale, where he served as chief resident. He further specialized in autoimmune skin disorders during advanced training at Brigham and Women's Hospital. As a physician-researcher, Dr. Gehlhausen focuses on understanding the signals underlying autoimmune diseases and applies this knowledge to diagnose, treat, and manage his patients. His research includes basic and translational studies utilizing patient-derived samples to gain insights into the pathophysiology of autoimmune skin diseases. In addition to his clinical practice, he is committed to educating the next generation of dermatologists by actively teaching and mentoring residents and medical students at Yale. Dr. Gehlhausen's research interests encompass autoimmune diseases, connective tissue diseases, dermatology, and immunology.
