Dr. Jeff Hall

Biography

Jeff Hall is a Faculty Associate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, where he focuses on the intersection of communication studies and technology. He is the Department Chair and Professor of Communication Studies at the University of Kansas, and he also directs the Relationships Technology Lab. Hall has contributed significantly to the field through his foundational role in journals such as Human Communication & Technology and has received various accolades, including the Scholarly Achievement Award from the University of Kansas in 2023. His research explores themes of loneliness, friendship, and the effects of technology on interpersonal relationships. He is the author of 'Relating Technology,' a recognized work published by Cambridge University Press in 2020, and in 2025, he released a new book titled 'Social Biome' with co-author Andy Merolla, published by Yale University Press.
