Jeff Hasty received his Ph.D. in Physics from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1997. He worked with Kurt Wiesenfeld as a postdoctoral fellow and then with Jorge Vinals at the Supercomputing Research Institute from 1997 to 1998. Following this, he continued his postdoctoral research in Jim Collins's Applied BioDynamics Lab at Boston University from 1998 to 2001. During his time at Boston University, his work evolved towards computational and molecular biology, ultimately leading him to his current position at the University of California, San Diego, as a Professor in the Departments of Molecular Biology and Bioengineering, as well as the Director of the BioCircuits Institute. His main research interest lies in the design and construction of synthetic gene-regulatory signaling networks, focusing on the dynamical interactions involved in gene regulation using synthetic gene circuits.
