Biography

Jeff Noh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at the University of Toronto. His research engages with a variety of fields including African American Literature, Asian Canadian Literature, and Digital Literature. Noh’s work often combines archival methods and sociological approaches to explore the literary production of Asian North American minoritized writers and their resistances in the context of publication. His current scholarly projects include a book titled 'Parallel Resistance,' which analyzes the unfinished novels of Asian American and African American writers who experimented with personal computing from the early 1980s to the 2000s, and another project titled 'Unpublished Counterpublics,' focusing on the writings of Asian detainees in Canada and the United States amid the Chinese Exclusion. Noh's scholarship has been featured in esteemed publications such as the Harvard Library Bulletin and Contemporary Literature. He has also contributed creatively, with work appearing in the Malahat Review and Canadian Stories. Noh has previously taught at Clark University and Pomona College before joining the University of Toronto. He has extensive experience as a creative writer and was a UNESCO writer-in-residence in Bucheon, South Korea in 2020.
