Biography

Jeffery Hancock is an Associate Professor at Northwestern University's School of Communication. He is a prominent dancer, choreographer, and costume designer with extensive experience in the performing arts. Hancock has choreographed works for prestigious organizations such as the River North Chicago Dance Company, Hubbard Street II, the Edinburgh Festival, Princess Cruise Lines, and numerous regional companies. His contributions also include choreographing for Northwestern's Theatre Interpretation Center and performing in various musical theater productions with Lyric Opera. As a founding member and principal dancer at River North Chicago Dance Company, as well as a company member at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Hancock has been recognized with nominations for the Ruth Page Awards and has received a performance choreography grant from the Illinois Arts Council. He has also served as co-artistic director of Planet World Dance Theatre and has guest performed with various dance companies. Through his teaching, Hancock shares his expertise in master classes both nationally and internationally, further impacting the dance community.
