Jeffrey Brock is the William S. Massey Professor of Mathematics and a Professor of Statistics and Data Science at Yale University. He assumed the role of Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science in July 2018, overseeing the day-to-day activities and long-term planning of various departments, including Applied Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry, Geology, Geophysics, Mathematics, Physics, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Molecular Biophysics, and Developmental Biology. In August 2019, he was appointed as Dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science, continuing to lead in both engineering and science. Before joining Yale, he held significant leadership roles at Brown University, including founding deputy director of the Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics and chair of the Department of Mathematics. Brock earned his undergraduate degree from Yale in 1992 and completed his Ph.D. in Mathematics at UC Berkeley in 1997. His research primarily focuses on hyperbolic geometry, where he has made foundational contributions to the geometric classification of hyperbolic 3-manifolds and their connections to theoretical physics. Outside of academia, he enjoys music and was a founding bassist of the Vijay Iyer Trio.
