Biography

Jeffrey Cole is a leading expert on media communication technology issues, addressing both national and international perspectives over the past decades. As the Director of the Center for Digital Future, he plays a critical role in advising governments and major corporations on crafting digital strategies. He founded and directs the World Internet Project, which offers a long-term longitudinal examination of the effects of computer and internet technology across 35 countries. This project was announced in June 1999, and Vice President Al Gore praised Cole as a visionary providing the public with information to understand the impact of media. Cole regularly shares insights on the project's trends with agencies such as the White House, FCC, Congress, and heads of governments globally. He has established long-term advisory relationships with executives from major companies including GroupM, Ericsson, and Telstra, and has worked with others, such as Microsoft and Sony, to help navigate the digital landscape. His leadership has led the Center for Digital Future to conduct in-depth studies examining disruptions in various industries including entertainment, health care, and banking. In the 1990s, he closely collaborated with four major broadcast networks addressing programming issues.
