Biography

Dr. Jeff Derby received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University in 1975. He joined IBM in 1982, working at the Research Triangle Park, NC, and spent seven years at Bell Laboratories in Whippany, NJ. He is currently a Senior Technical Staff Member in the PowerPC Technology Development area of IBM's Microelectronics Division. His work focuses on analog and digital signal processing subsystems for telecommunications applications. Throughout his career, he has been listed as the inventor or co-inventor on 22 patents. Additionally, Dr. Derby has been an adjunct faculty member at Duke University since 1984.
