Biography

Jeffrey Endelman is a Professor in the Department of Plant and Agroecosystem Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he also participates in the graduate program in Plant Breeding and Plant Genetics. He leads a potato variety development program at the university, focusing on the release of new varieties aimed at the chip, French fry, and fresh markets. His current research interests include genomics-assisted breeding methods for autotetraploids and the genetics of periderm-related traits, such as skin color, set, and finish. Additionally, he is involved in the development of inbred-hybrid breeding systems for diploid potato. Endelman teaches undergraduate courses on genetically modified crops, as well as graduate courses covering topics in molecular and statistical genetics.
