Dr. Jeffrey Gagne

Biography

Jeffrey Gagne is an Associate Professor and Assistant Dean at Texas A&M University, where he coordinates the Ph.D. Program in Developmental Sciences and serves as the Associate Department Head in the Department of Educational Psychology. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from Boston College, as well as a Master's Degree and a Ph.D. in Developmental Science from Boston University. His postdoctoral training was completed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Gagne's research interests include child temperament, emotion, cognition, and the health of education. He has been focusing on the development of self-control over the past decade, leading the TEXAS Family Study, which examines the development and socio-emotional growth of preschool-aged siblings. He implements a multi-method approach in his studies, incorporating behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and neurophysiological measures. His current projects investigate how COVID-19 has impacted preschooler development and other traits related to self-control. Gagne has taught a variety of courses, including Motivation & Learning and Lifespan Development, and has published multiple articles in respected journals, detailing his findings in developmental psychology and behavioral genetics.
