Biography

Jeff Giddings is a Professor and Associate Dean of Experiential Education at the Monash University Law Faculty. He joined the faculty in 2017 after 22 years at Griffith University in Brisbane, Queensland. Jeff received the Australian National Teaching Fellowship in 2013 for his Effective Law Student Supervision Project, and he has been recognized with multiple awards for excellence in teaching, including the inaugural Griffith Award. He has a strong focus on clinical legal education, having first established Griffith's clinical program in 1995 and serving as an editor for the upcoming book 'Global Clinical Legal Education' to be published by Routledge in 2025. Jeff completed his PhD on sustainability in clinical legal education programs, resulting in the book 'Promoting Justice: Clinical Legal Education' published by Justice Press, which also has a Mandarin edition released in 2017. He has contributed to the field of access to justice for over 30 years and has authored several pieces on this topic, including the edited monograph 'Legal Aid Victoria: Crossroads.' Additionally, his expertise extends to Alternative Dispute Resolution, having convened a Graduate Program in Dispute Resolution at Griffith University and conducted mediations for the Queensland Department of Justice. Jeff is also engaged with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in legal education and access to justice research.
