Biography

Jeffrey T. Glass is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and serves as the Director of the Institute for Enterprise Engineering at Duke University. He holds the Hogg Family endowed chair, focusing on engineering management and entrepreneurship. Prior to his current position, he was the Co-Director of the Institute for Integrated Management Engineering at Case Western Reserve University where he held the Joseph F. Toot, Jr. endowed chair. His career includes a significant role as Vice President of R&D at Kobe Steel USA Inc. Glass's academic background includes a B.S.E. and M.Sc.Eng. from Johns Hopkins University, a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Virginia, and an MBA from Duke University's GEMBA program. His research primarily revolves around electronic materials and devices, particularly in the development of miniature mass spectrometers and innovative waste treatment systems. He has published over 175 papers, edited seven books, holds 14 patents, and has organized numerous professional conferences and short courses. Recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher by Thomson Reuters in 2001, he has also received the Stansell Family Distinguished Research Award from the Pratt School of Engineering in 2015. Glass has also served on various advisory boards and has been active in teaching executive courses on managing innovation.
