Dr. Glenn's primary interest is molecular virology, with a strong emphasis on translating knowledge into novel antiviral therapies. His current projects aim to understand the role of prenylation in the life cycles of hepatitis delta virus (HDV) and other viruses, focusing on mechanisms of intracellular trafficking and virus assembly to target promising antiviral treatments. His research includes studying the function of proteins of hepatitis and respiratory viruses, identifying key determinants of pathogenesis, and designing novel antiviral strategies against hepatitis, influenza, and enteroviruses. He has a particular interest in the host cell targets that viruses depend on and the critical RNA secondary structures involved. Additionally, his interests extend to the exploitation of hepatic stem cells, development of small animal models, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), liver cancer, and engineered human liver tissues.
