Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Jeffrey Gross. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Jeffrey M. Gross is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Molecular Biosciences at the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on vertebrate eye development, disease modeling, and regeneration using zebrafish as a model system. He utilizes a combination of forward and reverse genetic screens, genomic and embryological manipulations, to understand the molecular and cellular events that regulate eye formation and visual function, as well as ocular diseases and regenerative responses. His lab investigates the development of the retina, the regulatory mechanisms of ocular morphogenesis, and the molecular regulation of retinal pigment epithelium regeneration. The goal of his research is to contribute to the understanding of visual system disorders, such as age-related macular degeneration, and to lay a foundation for the development of new therapeutic interventions.
