Dr. Jeffrey Huang

Biography

Jeffrey Huang is the Director of the Media x Design Laboratory and a Full Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). He holds degrees from ETH Zurich and Harvard University, having made significant contributions to the fields of architecture and computer science. His early academic career included positions at MIT’s Sloan School of Management and Harvard University, where he was promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor and then Full Professor. He has also served as a Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University and Stanford University. Huang’s research interests lie at the intersection of physical and digital architecture, particularly focusing on artificial intelligence in architectural design, strategic experience design, and computational urbanism. He has led various international collaborations and projects, including a stint as the founding Dean of Sustainable Design at Singapore University of Technology and Design. His recent work explores innovative design paradigms and the implications of digital twins and artificial intelligence on sustainable smart cities. Huang has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Gerald McCue medal for academic excellence and the ACSA Article Award.
