Biography

Jeffrey Lagarias is the Harold Mead Stark Distinguished University Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Michigan, where he has been actively involved in research in Number Theory, Geometry, and Topology. He completed his Ph.D. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1974. His research interests are broad, covering both pure and applied areas. He has also advised doctoral students on various mathematical topics and has received prestigious honors including election to the National Academy of Sciences.
