Biography

Jeffrey W. Lockhart is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of California, Berkeley. His research explores the social and political dimensions of science and technology, focusing on the contested boundaries of gender and sexual categories. Prior to joining Berkeley, Lockhart was a James S. McDonnell Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Chicago. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Michigan in 2022, following an M.Phil. in Multi-Disciplinary Gender Studies from the University of Cambridge in 2015, where he was a Gates-Cambridge Scholar. He also holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Fordham University, earned in 2014, and a B.S. in Computer Science and Women's Studies from Fordham University in 2013.
