Biography

Jeffrey S. Moore is the Stanley O. Ikenberry Research Professor at the University of Illinois, specializing in the field of Chemistry. He earned his B.S. degree in Chemistry in 1984 and his Ph.D. in Materials Science in 1989 from the University of Illinois. Following his education, he was a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at Caltech and then an assistant professor at the University of Michigan before joining the University of Illinois faculty in 1993. Moore served as Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Chemical Society from 1999 to 2013 and is a member of the Beckman Institute. His research interests include polymer mechanochemistry, lightweight and high-strength organic materials, morphogenic manufacturing, and self-healing polymers, as part of the Autonomic Materials Systems group at the Beckman Institute. He is committed to the professional development of the next generation of scientists and educators, integrating concepts from physical organic chemistry and engineering to create innovative materials.
