Biography

Dr. Jeffrey Pai received his Bachelor of Commerce from Feng Chia University in Taiwan in 1984. He subsequently served in the military before earning a Master of Science in Actuarial Sciences from the University of Connecticut in 1990, followed by a Ph.D. in Statistics in 1994. Since joining the University of Manitoba in 1996, he has been a leader in the Warren Centre for Actuarial Studies and Research. Over his career, Dr. Pai has taught at several universities across the USA, Switzerland, Canada, China, Taiwan, and Thailand, accumulating over 30 years of teaching experience. He was appointed Associate Professor in 2001 and Full Professor in 2008 at the University of Manitoba, where he has also contributed to the development of research in economic and actuarial sciences. Dr. Pai has received numerous accolades for his teaching and research, including the University of Manitoba “Students’ Teacher Recognition Awards”, the CAS Paper Award for excellence in research in actuarial science, and the Literati Network Awards for Outstanding Paper. He holds professional designations such as ASA and P.STAT and is an elected member of the International Statistical Institute. Dr. Pai's research interests include risk management, statistical modeling, and advanced statistical analysis techniques.
