Biography

Jeffrey M. Perloff's economic research encompasses a wide array of topics within economics including agricultural economics, industrial organization, marketing, labor, trade, and econometrics. He has recently focused on estimating market power and income distribution as well as analyzing sales and pricing behavior of firms. Perloff has consulted for numerous nonprofit organizations and government agencies, including the Federal Trade Commission and various Departments such as Commerce, Justice, and Agriculture, addressing issues related to allegations of television dumping and the evaluation of social programs. He has also delved into research from a psychological perspective. Perloff is a fellow of the American Agricultural Economics Association and has a notable educational background with a B.A. in economics from the University of Chicago in 1972 and a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1976. Prior to his current role, he served as an assistant professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Pennsylvania.
