Dr. Jeffrey Petrella

Biography

Dr. Jeffrey Robert Petrella is a Professor of Radiology at Duke University, where he serves as the Director of the Alzheimer's Imaging Research Laboratory. He specializes in quantitative modeling of physiologic processes in both normal and diseased states of the central nervous system, utilizing advanced MR imaging technologies such as diffusion and perfusion fMRI. Dr. Petrella's research focuses on identifying functional imaging biomarkers for the early diagnosis and monitoring of dementia, particularly in the context of Alzheimer's disease. His work has led to important insights into the role of imaging in understanding cognitive impairment and planning preoperative interventions for patients with brain lesions.
