Biography

Dr. Jeffrey C. Weinreb is a Professor Emeritus in Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at Yale School of Medicine. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned his MD from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Weinreb has held faculty positions at UT Southwestern Medical School, Columbia University, and NYU School of Medicine, where he was Director of MRI for 15 years and led a group pioneering the development of Body MRI. As a leading authority on MRI contrast agents and MRI safety, he has made significant contributions to the clinical applications of MRI in various fields including abdomen, spine, breast, prostate, and gynecology. He has authored and co-authored over 270 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has served on editorial boards of several medical journals, presenting more than 1000 invited lectures worldwide. Dr. Weinreb was the Principal Investigator in a National Cancer Institute-sponsored multicenter study evaluating in vivo MR spectroscopy in prostate cancer and has been involved in developing the Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS). His leadership roles include Vice President of the American College of Radiology and Chairman of the ACR MRI Accreditation Program. He has received numerous awards, including Gold Medals from the American College of Radiology and SCBT-MR.
