Biography

Jeffrey Wong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance at Macquarie University. His research expertise lies in Accounting and Finance, with a specialization in energy finance, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors, market behavior, corporate decision-making, financial regulations, and the complex relationships within financial markets. He has addressed critical issues such as the ESG value relevance to investors and the impact of energy prices on corporate decisions. His work also delves into high-frequency trading, liquidity variations, and market fragmentation. Jeffrey has published extensively in leading international journals including the British Accounting Review and Energy Economics. He was part of a successful team that secured a $1 million Australian Research Council grant to analyze the effects of high-frequency trading on financial markets. His research contributions have aided in understanding the intricate dynamics of cross-border exchanges and in shaping regulations governing market design. Jeffrey leads the Energy Markets Research Centre at Capital Markets CRC, leveraging substantial industry experience to engage government and industry stakeholders for evidence-based policy decisions. He holds a PhD and Bachelor of Commerce with Honours from the University of Sydney.
