Dr. Jeffry Stock

Biography

Jeffry B. Stock is a leading expert in signal transduction and global cellular regulation with over 150 original scientific articles. He is recognized for his seminal work on membrane receptor functions and signal transduction in microorganisms. As a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University in the early 70s, he played a key role in elucidating chemiosmotic relationships in bioenergetics and active transport related to membrane receptor function in bacteria. Following his postdoctoral fellowship at Berkeley, Stock became an independent investigator at Princeton University where he made significant contributions to the understanding of the molecular mechanisms behind sensory-motor regulation in prokaryotes. His career has lately focused on translational research, applying discoveries from basic research to drug discovery and the development of therapeutics. He founded the biotech startup Signum Biosciences Group and serves as its Chairman, leading the development of topical anti-inflammatories for dermatological applications and novel systemic approaches for treating neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Dr. Stock has received numerous honors, including being elected a fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and has won the Humboldt Prize. He also serves on the Centers Review Committee for the National Institute of Drug Abuse.
