Biography

Jehanbakhsh Jasavala holds multiple music degrees, including an MMus from the University of Michigan and a BFA from York University. With a diploma in Jazz Studies from Humber College and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor, he is an active performer, teacher, clinician, and adjudicator. He has held positions such as Principal Trombone with the Windsor and Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestras and performed as a freelance musician with various orchestras in Ontario and Michigan. A founding member of the Umbrella Brass Quintet, he has also done work with Musica Quinta. His contributions have been featured on CBC and he has appeared on multiple recordings. As an educator, he has taught at the University of Windsor, Lakehead University, and the University of Toronto, leading jazz ensembles and teaching chamber music and jazz pedagogy.
