Professor Dr. Jelena Kurilova

Biography

Jelena Kurilova is an Associate Professor at Linköping University specializing in production systems and business models focusing on remanufacturing. Her research aids companies in initiating remanufacturing of original products with an emphasis on sustainable practices. Through the application of lean principles, she assists industries in efficiently transitioning to remanufacturing, a key component in the shift from a linear to a circular economy. Jelena's expertise spans production systems and sustainable business strategies, prominently using her analytical tool, Remometer®, to help manufacturers and product owners evaluate the potential for remanufacturing. This tool assesses the suitability of products for remanufacturing and estimates the economic, environmental, and social benefits associated with the practice. Over her career, Jelena has led various national and international research projects and published work in significant areas of remanufacturing. Her academic credentials include a PhD in Manufacturing Engineering from Linköping University. She has an extensive background in teaching and has supervised numerous bachelor and master theses, emphasizing sustainable manufacturing practices.
