Dr. Jelena Vuckovic

Biography

Jelena Vuckovic leads the Nanoscale Quantum Photonics Lab in the Ginzton Laboratory at Stanford University. Since joining the Stanford Faculty in 2003, she has made significant contributions to the field of photonics and quantum science. She received her PhD from the California Institute of Technology in 2002. Vuckovic has held notable positions such as the Fortinet Founders Chair in the Electrical Engineering Department and the inaugural director of Q-FARM—an initiative focusing on quantum science and engineering. She is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and an External Scientific Member of the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics. Vuckovic's awards include the Zeiss Research Award, Samsung Award, and the Vannevar Bush Faculty Fellowship. Her research interests encompass nanophotonics, quantum optics, and nonlinear optics, focusing on semiconductor quantum systems and photonic chip-scale technologies. She is also actively involved in commercialization efforts through SPINS Photonics, a company she co-founded. Vuckovic serves as an editor for Physical Review Applied and holds editorial positions for several prestigious scientific journals.
