Biography

Jelmer Wolterink is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Twente. He obtained his PhD in 2017 from Utrecht University, focusing on machine learning-based analysis of cardiovascular images. Following his doctoral work, he completed postdoctoral research in the quantitative image analysis group at UMC Utrecht. Since March 2020, he has served as an Assistant Professor in the Mathematics Imaging & AI group at the University of Twente. His research interests are primarily centered on machine learning and medical image analysis, particularly within the realms of generative models and geometric deep learning approaches. He was awarded the VENI NWO TTW grant in 2020 for his innovative work on machine learning-based predictions regarding the growth and rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysms. He actively contributes to various scholarly publications and research initiatives in the field of medical imaging and artificial intelligence.
