Jemima Nomunume Baada is an interdisciplinary climate migration scholar focusing on the intersections of gender, climate change, migration, and health development equity. She employs a gendered lens to examine the experiences of diverse individuals and groups affected by climate change, health inequalities, and migration processes in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Malawi. Baada has a strong academic background, having completed her PhD at the University of Western Ontario in 2022. Her teaching and research involve understanding the experiences of rural dwellers, especially women whose livelihoods are tied to environmental and natural resources. Currently, she is exploring the experiences of immigrant and refugee women regarding sexual and reproductive healthcare in British Columbia. Her ongoing research includes examining the relationship between climate change and declining agricultural livelihoods, as well as investigating the impact of renewable energy transitions on rural livelihoods. In her previous work with the International Centre for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), she has addressed migration-related issues and contributed to development agencies to respond effectively to the needs of marginalized groups, ensuring an equitable approach to policy and practice.
