Dr. Jemma Hopewell

Biography

Jemma Hopewell leads a team of genetic epidemiologists, clinical fellows, medical statisticians, and bioinformaticians focused on using genetic and clinical trial-based studies to investigate the causes and treatments of cardiovascular disease and arrhythmias. Her particular research interests include employing epidemiological and genetic large-scale 'omic approaches to improve understanding of drug targets and disease mechanisms, performing genomic characterization of vascular disease risk factors, particularly lipoprotein(a), and determining predictors of patient response to therapy. As a principal investigator, Jemma collaborates on numerous trial-based and epidemiological projects, including large-scale vascular mega-trials and biobanks. She holds key roles within various international consortia and works closely with both academia and industry. Jemma's advisory roles with national agencies and funders reflect her expertise, including serving on scientific advisory boards and committees, such as the American Heart Association Fellowship Committee. She is committed to excellence in research and rigorous clinical evaluation.
