Biography

Jen Walsh is the Director of the Centre for Sleep Science and a Senior Research Fellow at the West Australian Sleep Disorders Research Institute at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. With early training in exercise physiology, vascular endothelial function, and cardiac rehabilitation, she has spent the last 20 years focused on sleep physiology, especially investigating the causes and treatments for sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnoea and insomnia. In 2009, Jen became heavily involved in the development and teaching of post-graduate courses in sleep science and dental sleep medicine. Her research expertise includes sleep physiology, obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), upper airway behaviour, insomnia, and the use of cannabinoids in sleep disorder treatments. She has been involved in various projects aimed at combining pharmacotherapy for patients with co-morbid insomnia and sleep apnoea. Jen's work is recognized for its impact in the field, reflected by her h-index of 25 and numerous citations in academic literature.
