Biography

Dr. Badulak is an emergency physician intensivist caring for patients in the Emergency Department, Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit, and Medical Intensive Care Unit at the University of Washington Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center. She is a clinician-educator who specializes in curriculum development and assessment with a focus on graduate medical education, particularly in Extracorporeal Life Support/Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO). Dr. Badulak serves as the Associate Program Director for the UW Medicine ECMO Program, leading various educational, operational, financial, and quality projects. She developed the UW ECMO curriculum for clinicians, creating an online didactic curriculum and in-person simulation training. Additionally, she partnered with Airlift Northwest to create the UW Medicine ECMO Retrieval Teams, serving the Pacific Northwest. Dr. Badulak also works with the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) education committee, contributing to the development of international standardized ECMO curriculum and leading the development of the ELSO Adult ECMO Practitioner Certification Exam (E-AEC). She is passionate about learning and teaching the optimal use of ECMO care for critically ill patients in the region.
