Professor Dr. Jenneke Van Ditzhuijzen

Biography

Jenneke van Ditzhuijzen is an assistant professor in Interdisciplinary Social Science with a focus on sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing. Trained as an experimental psychologist, she has transitioned into the realm of interdisciplinary social science and public health over the years. Her research interests include unintended pregnancy, abortion, contraception, sex education, sexual violence, sexual and gender diversity, and mental health wellbeing. She explores how social and institutional normative contexts shape experiences in these areas. With extensive experience as a senior researcher and consultant in mental healthcare, Jenneke has also been a key figure in the Dutch-Flemish sex researchers network, SEKSO. She advocates for mainstreaming sexual health education through the development of the new minor 'Sexuality from an Interdisciplinary Perspective' at Utrecht University, contributing to the mission of improving equity and wellbeing in the field of sexual and reproductive health and academia in general.
