Biography

Jennie Middleton is an Associate Professor in Human Geography at the University of Oxford and Tutorial Fellow at St Anne's College. She completed her BA (Hons) in Geography at the University of Wales, an MSc in Human Geography Research at the London School of Economics, and her PhD at King's College London in 2007. Prior to her current role, she was a Senior Research Fellow at the Transport Studies Unit and held research lecturing posts at Cardiff University, Kingston University, and the University of Plymouth. Her research, supported by funding from the British Academy, ESRC, and Wellcome Trust, explores the intersections of mobilities, care cities, and innovative methodologies in urban research. She leads projects examining the relationship between urban walking and spatial practices, as well as the impacts of austerity on care delivery in urban environments. Jennie teaches undergraduate classes on transport mobilities and environmental governance at the graduate level, actively engages with graduate research students, and coordinates several short courses.
