Biography

Jennifer Arlen’s scholarship focuses on corporate liability, behavioral experimental law economics, and medical malpractice. She is the founding faculty director of the NYU Program on Corporate Compliance and Enforcement. Arlen teaches courses such as Corporations and Business Crime, as well as seminars on Corporate Crime and Financial Misdealing. She has served as the president of the American Law and Economics Association and the Society for Empirical Legal Studies, which she co-founded in 2005. Arlen has authored principles for the American Law Institute’s Principles of Law on Compliance and Enforcement Organizations, and she is on the editorial board of the American Law and Economics Review. She has published extensively in leading journals and edited books on subjects related to corporate crime. Furthermore, she has held various visiting professorships at prominent institutions, including the California Institute of Technology and Harvard Law School, and has clerked for Judge Phyllis Kravitch in the Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.
