Jennifer Bell is a Bioethicist at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (PM) and a Research Scientist in the Department of Supportive Care at PM. She holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and is a member of the University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics. Jennifer has a bachelor's degree in philosophy specializing in bioethics from the University of Toronto, a master's degree in philosophy with a focus on biomedical ethics from McGill University, and a Ph.D. in bioethics from the University of British Columbia. Her research program applies an ethics lens to relational autonomy and supportive decision-making in complex decisional contexts within advanced cancer care. She is a co-investigator on national research grants funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, which investigate patients’ decision-making processes and autonomy related to participation in cancer clinical trials. Currently, Jennifer is interested in extending her research program to investigate the decision-making processes of advanced cancer patients regarding medically assisted dying.
