Biography

Jennifer Carter is an Associate Professor at the University of Oxford, within the Medical Sciences Division. Her research focuses on the measurement and influence of adiposity, dietary intake, and vascular risk factors related to cardiovascular disease through large, prospective studies globally. She is also involved in curriculum development and pedagogical leadership for the MSc in Global Health Science, leading modules on Statistics and Epidemiology. Jennifer coordinates the Summer Lecture Series and short courses in epidemiology and statistics. She has received several awards for her teaching excellence, including the Medical Sciences Division Early Career Teaching Excellence Award in 2017 and 'Most Acclaimed Lecturer of the Year' from the Oxford Student Union in 2018. Additionally, she was awarded the title of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2021. Jennifer has a Master of Research degree in Psychology from the University of Manchester and a PhD in Epidemiology from King’s College London, focusing on psychosocial influences on socioeconomic inequalities related to health across the life course.
