Jenn Day is a Geological Engineer and a registered Professional Engineer (PEng) in Ontario and New Brunswick, as well as a Professional Geoscientist (PGeo). She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering at Queen's University. Before joining Queen's, she had several years of experience as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences, with a cross-appointment in Civil Engineering at the University of New Brunswick. Jenn's research primarily focuses on rock engineering and geomechanics, especially the characterization of heterogeneous rock and rock mass systems. Her work enhances laboratory and field assessment techniques, advanced numerical modeling, and analyzes the mechanical behavior of complex ground conditions, which is significant in the fields of mining, tunneling, and nuclear waste storage. Recently, she has developed a research area on the stability of shoreline geological formations influenced by geotourism and climate change. Jenn actively encourages students interested in these research topics to reach out and explore potential opportunities.
