Biography

Jennifer Dunsford is a registered nurse researcher at the University of Manitoba's College of Nursing in Winnipeg. With a longstanding interest in clinical and organizational healthcare ethics, she works as an Assistant Professor teaching professional foundations in the Bachelor of Nursing program. Jennifer’s experience encompasses direct nursing care, nursing leadership, patient safety, clinical ethics, and nursing education. Her research examines the intrapersonal conflicts nurses face in ethical decision-making, particularly regarding workplace violence and the implications of bioethics and nursing ethics. She has contributed significantly to understanding ethical decision-making processes in nursing through her development of the Salient Vulnerability Theory, which addresses the challenges nurses encounter during violent situations in patient care scenarios. Furthermore, Jennifer actively engages with the nursing profession, having served as the past president of the Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba and currently as the vice-president of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Nurses Protective Society.
