Biography

Jennifer R. Fonda is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. She has over 20 years of experience as a researcher focused on advanced biostatistics epidemiologic methods, with particular interests in addiction, chronic pain, and suicide. Dr. Fonda is the principal investigator for a VA CSR&D CDA-2 grant that utilizes VA electronic medical records to build predictor profiles of opioid use disorder and overdose among post-9/11 Veterans. Additionally, she serves as a co-investigator on NIH randomized clinical trials and as a consultant for VA RR&D CDA-2 grants. As the Director of Biostatistics, Informatics, and Data Science at the Traumatic Brain Injury Stress Disorders Center (TRACTS), she has played a central role in the design and data management of a longitudinal, prospective cohort study. Dr. Fonda has substantial expertise in using large electronic medical record databases for epidemiologic research, and she has taught statistics and epidemiology courses for both undergraduate and graduate students. She is also involved in developing a Basic Biostatistics Research Design Bootcamp and a seminar series for the Neuropsychiatry Translational Research Fellowship Program, aiming to equip future researchers with essential statistical research methods.
