Biography

Jennifer Frattolin is an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the University of British Columbia’s School of Engineering. She earned her PhD in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University. Before joining UBC, she was a postdoctoral researcher at Imperial College London in the Department of Bioengineering. Her research is focused on understanding the biological, chemical, and physical phenomena influencing shape formation of chemokine gradients, particularly CCL21, and its effects on dendritic cell migration. Her primary research interests center on the interface of lymphatic and immune systems, utilizing novel microfluidic systems and fluorescent microscopy to elucidate the mechanisms of immune cell transport in both homeostatic and inflammatory conditions. Dr. Frattolin is particularly interested in applying her expertise to the development of immunotherapies and medical devices aimed at treating cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
