Biography

Jennifer L. Gibson is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto's Joint Centre for Bioethics and holds the Sun Life Financial Chair in Bioethics. She has a PhD in Philosophy and has extensive experience in health policy ethics. Her research and teaching focus on ethical issues within contemporary health systems, including resource allocation, medical assistance in dying, and the ethics of artificial intelligence in healthcare. Jennifer has served as a co-chair for several expert panels on medical assistance in dying and has been involved in numerous policy advisory roles, including with the Ontario Ministry of Health during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, she founded the JCB's Ethics AI Good Health Program, which tackles governance issues related to AI in healthcare. As a member of the Expert Group on Ethics Governance of AI in Health, her work addresses complex ethical problems facing modern health care, emphasizing the integration of values in governance and decision-making processes.
